What Is PrEP – and Why Does It Matter?
PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) is a preventive treatment for people who do not have HIV but are at risk of being exposed to the virus. When taken consistently, PrEP is highly effective at preventing HIV transmission through sex.

The CDC recommends that all sexually active adults and adolescents learn about PrEP as part of routine preventive care. YEZTUGO’s extended dosing helps overcome daily-pill challenges, expanding protection and reducing obstacles.

YEZTUGO: A New Era in HIV Prevention
With YEZTUGO, preventing HIV moves beyond daily dosing. After completing the starter doses, patients receive just two injections every six months.

This extended dosing schedule addresses some of the biggest challenges in PrEP care, including:

• Adherence: Long-acting options help reach individuals who may struggle with daily or monthly regimens, improving consistency and fitting more easily into busy lives.
  
• Stigma: Fewer visible treatment steps may reduce stigma and increase comfort.

Understanding HIV
HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) attacks the body’s immune system. Once infected, a person carries the virus for life, and if left untreated, it can lead to AIDS.

Most people infected with HIV experience flu-like symptoms 2 to 4 weeks after exposure, though many have no symptoms at all. The only way to know if you have HIV is to get tested.

While there is currently no effective cure, with proper care, the virus can be controlled. Advancements in prevention and treatment—including PrEP and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP)—have significantly reduced the risk of transmission. Today, we have more tools than ever to prevent HIV. YEZTUGO adds an important, long-acting option to that toolbox.
